Irene.
I thought this blog should have a milemarker for the passing of Hurricane Irene, even if it happened a few weeks ago. This is the storefront of Odd Twin, a store on 5th Ave.
There's a lady who's sure all the glitters is...
MTA workers are preparing the temporary center platform at the 4th Ave station again. This time it'll be used by the Coney Island bound trains. I like how the stairs for the unfinished bridge look in this wet weather, going nowhere but up.
Astoria Federal Savings
The sunset today gave the perfect lighting to this oddly located building. It's on 10th St, just north of 5th Ave. By it's facade one would imagine it should be on one of the more commercial avenues, not in this residential block. I wonder if there's an interesting story behind this location. The inscription on the entrance dates it to 1886.
St. Johns Place
The area near the park and Grand Army Plaza has some beautiful architecture. I think this block near 7th Av lost some trees in the tornado last year, but it's still gorgeous.
8th Avenue Façades
A lot of Park Slope streets have a very warm neighborhood feel to them. I love this set of houses on 8th Avenue.
Old Stone House
Located in Washintong Park, the small park on 5th Ave between 3rd & 4th St. It's a museum and art community center. Photo taken in the Spring of 2011. www.theoldstonehouse.org
Joe's Pizza of the Village
The owner of this place was apparently a pizza maker at the famous Joe's Pizza on Carmine & Bleeker in the city. This place closes really late so it's one of few options for late night munchies on 5th Ave (bet 11th & 12th St). I love their pizza!
Bingo.
5th Avenue Bingo near 8th St. Will we all end up hanging out there if we live around here long enough?
